Reclaiming the true history of the farmworkers movement means honoring all the leaders whose courage and sacrifice built it. Albert M. Rojas was a giant of that struggle and a treasured ally in our work.
Al Rojas was more than a labor leader, he was a teacher, a mentor, and a visionary. His grassroots organizing touched thousands, leaving a lasting impact on youth, workers, and community organizers alike. His lifelong dedication to labor and human rights inspired action and change for countless workers and families across two nations.
Rojas' efforts to build and strengthen the labor movement in both the United States and Mexico earned him national recognition and deep respect on both sides of the border. In honor of his extraordinary legacy, the President of Mexico, the Mexican Congress, and the California State Assembly each paid tribute to him recognizing him as the human rights giant he was, and will always remain.
The Albert M. Rojas Foundation exists to share his story and carry his vision forward. They welcome educators, students, and community members to connect and learn about his life and legacy through education, labor history, the arts, and the international recognition of his contributions.
His story is woven into the same movement we work to reclaim. A movement built by many hands, many communities, and many leaders whose names deserve to be remembered.
